Absent from Blogging

29/6/2014

I have been absent from the website for a number of months.  When I finished the MA in August last year, I had a huge number of domestic jobs which needed attention.  I tried to continue with my craft as well as getting on with them.  This was not working.  Then I lost a dear friend in March, which was upsetting.  Therefore, I decided to take a break from craft and get on with the other tasks that needed doing.  Now these are completed - almost, so I can turn my attention back to what I enjoy doing.

I have finished the first warp and isolated a couple of woven pieces suitable for scarves and the other two pieces have been put aside to make into soft bags later.  I have already published the design I found most appealing.  I have wound the second warp which will go on the loom this week.  This should provide me with another four woven pieces to assess.

I am in the process now of gathering stock of various finished items.  As a weaver it takes a while to accomplish this task.
I have isolated a number of small samples which will be processed into small items for sale.  My most successful samples will be kept for future reference.

I officially graduated this week - we had to wait a year to join in with the BA ceremony.

I have been sampling a few of my 'maze' inspired structures using a graduated colours warp, which is in keeping with the uneven colours of weathered metal.  I have decided to have an installation of six panels for the final MAde Show.  I have various combinations of structures for this, and am undecided yet which way to go with them.  I want all the elements to be in place by Easter so that I have plenty of time for the weaving as well as the other tasks I will be undertaking in the final project.
