'In Memorandum'

A throw with a spun silk warp and 50% cashmere/50% cotton weft with spun silk extra weft.  The designing and making of the throw symbolised a cathartic journey motivated by the loss of my mother.
The merging of three structures epitomises metaphorical paths through life.

The colours came from my mum's Royal Albert china pieces.

The throw was on exhibition in 'Everyday Encounters', the William Morris Gallery, Walthamstow from October 2012 until February 2013.

Spun silk wraps inspired by a visit to Tokyo and Kyoto in December 2010.  The structures were sourced from the renowned Prada Store in Tokyo designed by Herzog and de Meuron in 2003, and the Burberry Store's shop front in the same district.
The colours were inspired by The Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku-ji), a Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto, with the red thread inclusions representing Torii gates.
This metaphorically united the ancient and the moderns elements of Japan.
With grateful thanks to my model, Sophie.

'In Memorandum2'

Triptych 40cm x 120 cm each panel

A spun silk warp and 50%  cashmere/50% cotton weft with spun silk extra weft.  The designing and making of the panels symbolised a cathartic journey motivated by the loss of my mother and memories of my grandmother.

Panels of different colours and different structures represent the journey of three different lives.

Iris 1 and Iris 2 have been completed - Cashmere/Cotton and Spun Silk for Iris 1 and all Spun Silk for Iris 2.

The above Iris wrap was the perfect accessory I needed when at a family wedding.

I produced 6 wraps and scarves using my Labyrinth and Maze MA research for the design work.     The 6 are hand-dyed and hand-woven from Soysilk and Spun Silk.

Two further Iris inspired wraps.  The first one shown here made from spun silk, 50% cashmere and 50% cotton.  The second is all spun silk.   Both show cased on Etsy.

The 'Infinity' scarves are multiplying into double figures mainly incorporating 'morphing' techniques for design work.

Scarves I worked on of a narrower width.

I have been designing more 'morphing' patterns and that has allowed me to take elements to expand further.  I intend to design and weave for the unisex market too in due course, and I am looking forward to that exercise.
